We use genome mining to discover novel natural products from bacteria, understand how they are made in nature, and how they can be utilized and engineered for human health.

Terpenoids are the most structurally complex family of natural products. We study how nature forms and modifies these complex polycyclic skeletons.
P450s as Biocatalysts
Cytochromes P450 are nature’s superlative oxidation enzymes. We investigate the roles of P450s in natural products biosynthesis and how bacterial P450s control reaction selectivities.
