Mohammed Ahmed
Postdoctoral Associate
Dr. Ahmed grew up in Egypt, earning his B.S. and M.S. from Al-Azhar University. His curiosity about natural products and their potential led him to the University of Mississippi, where he completed his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences under Prof. Boudreau’s mentorship. In his Ph.D., he combined metabolomics and genomics to uncover new bacterial metallophones from the soil microbiome. He also received awards during his PhD, such as Outstanding Graduate Student in Pharmacognosy from the BioMolecular Sciences department and a research grant award from the Graduate Student Council.
In September 2024, he joined Prof. Rudolf’s research group as a postdoctoral researcher to explore the biosynthesis of bacterial natural products, with a focus on bacterial terpenoids.
Outside the lab, he loves spending time in nature, traveling, and playing soccer.
